Sony finally reveals the PS5’s User Experience

Game help, activities and so much more! Sony reveals all the never before seen features of the PS5’s UI.

Watch Sony’s latest State of Play video that showcases the PS5’s user experience below.

The PS5 was built from the ground up to take full advantage of 4K TVs. Its UX is no different. This footage is from a pre-production environment, meaning there could be changes when the console releases on the 12th of November.

First off, we take a look at the control center, which you can get to with a simple press of the PS button. It provides an overview to everything you might need without leaving the game you’re currently playing.

On the control center, we can see that there are a few cards, each serving a unique function. For example, we take a look at the official news card, which gives us an update on all the latest stories about the game we’re playing. Another card shows us a screenshot we took of the game.

We’re also introduced to activities, which gives us more information about certain elements of the games we’re playing. Remaining playtime needed to finish a level and the objectives we need to accomplish is one of the examples presented in the video.

Another new feature, which is limited to PS plus subscribers and to a limited number of games, is the game help feature. If you’re stuck at a certain puzzle or don’t know how to progress in your game. Game help will allow you to quickly see hints and the solutions without spending hours scouring the internet through walkthroughs and articles that could be full of spoilers. You can even pin the card so it could guide you while you play.

Another feature that we absolutely love is the fact that the Dualshock 5 will include a built-in microphone. Allowing you to quickly start a voice chat with your friends and family. Share Screen this time around enables you and your friends to watch what each of you are playing. A neat feature of it is the fact that you can pin the card on the screen and watch your friends play as you play a different game yourself. I love the possibilities of this feature. For example, buying a new game with your friends on launch day and experiencing it at the same time together. That can be especially helpful in puzzle-heavy games, letting you cooperate in solving them with ease.

Those are some of the new features that we’ve seen in this State of Play video. Glad to see that it all looks beautifully designed. The transition between cards and menus are super smooth and satisfying to see.

What did you think about the footage? Are you looking forward to the PS5? Did you preorder it? Let us know in the comments below.
