CD Projekt Red offers Refunds, Vows To Fix Cyberpunk 2077 on Last-Gen Consoles

After the massive backlash, CD Projekt Red apologizes to its fans, offers refunds and vows to fix the game on last-gen consoles

After 8 years of development, Cyberpunk 2077 was finally released on the 10th of December. Last-gen players’ excitement quickly fizzled out when they discovered that the game was barely playable on the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Both the standard and the Pro\X versions of the consoles suffered from massive frame rate drops, constant stuttering and game breaking bugs.

CD Projekt Red apologized today for the poor launch and offered full refunds for the digital versions. It also urged customers who bought a boxed version to contact them in case the retailer refused to offer them a refund.

They acknowledged that the last-gen versions of the game won’t be similar to the experience on next-gen consoles or a high-spec PC, yet they still promise that it will be much more closer to it than it is now.

They also assured the fans that they will patch the game as soon as possible. The first major patch is set to be released in January, and the second in February. Claiming that they will fix the majority of the problems that Cyberpunk 2077 suffers from as of today.

Our Experience with Cyberpunk 2077 so far

We got our hands on both a digital and a physical copy of the game and played it a bit. We’re sad to report that the game does suffer from a variety of problems. Physical copy buyers should be warned that the game needs to be fully updated on the PS4 before they’re able to play it.

What makes matters worse is that the update is about 45 GBs, which is unfortunate for players whose internet connection is a bit slow. We also suffered from framerate drops and constant crashes.

And there’s also the constant issue of the blurry and low-res textures.

Despite being in the same location, these two textures look vastly different. One is a sharp and crisp texture while the other is low-res, blurry and unpleasant to the eyes.

We also encountered a game breaking bug where in order to proceed, we needed to talk to a certain character. The character though was stuck in a place that was out of our reach, forcing us to reload our game. We also suffered from two crashes that brought us back to the PS4’s menu.

We’ll be reviewing the game as soon as we’re done with it, and we promise to update our review once the patches come out.
